Degree Apprenticeships

Our Degree Apprenticeship is targeted at developers looking to further their career in Software Engineering.  The programme is the next stage in our award winning Apprenticeship Programme which could see you deepen your technical or management skills, gaining a BSc (Hons) Degree in Digital and Technology Solutions or BA (Hons) in Management Practice from the Open University with £0 student debt.  All while continuing in a full time job at Carbon Six Digital.

The job

Our Degree Apprentices work as a core part of our Development Team, and will be working on an array of different client projects from developing new features on our FitTech application PulseMove, through to providing second line support for our existing customers' sites.

The learning

Apprenticeships are all about a blended mix of on the job and classroom based learning. We partner with the Open University for our Degree Apprenticeship because they have 50 years experience of delivering distance learning.

Online delivery is both varied and interactive, using rich media formats that engage and enthuse Apprentices on their journey. Learning can be accessed 24/7 on computers, tablets and mobile devices. Online forums and tutorials as well as email and telephone communication are used to support apprentices throughout the programme.

A small number of face-to-face tutorials also take place, to gain deeper understanding and build relationships with other apprentices in your cohort.

You'll have the choice of following a technical or management track to enable you to deepen the knowledge, skills and experience that you feel are right for you.

The rewards

Apprentices benefit in so many ways from the investment they make in their career:

  • Management track:
    • BA (Hons) in Management Practice
    • Chartered Manager Status, awarded by CMI
  • Technical track:
    • BSc (Hons) Degree in Digital and Technology Solutions
  • Salary up to £35,000 dependent on experience
  • 28 Days Holiday
  • Flexible working
  • Tax free childcare scheme (salary sacrifice)
  • Tax free cycle to work scheme (salary sacrifice)

There are no formal qualifications requirements to complete the Degree Apprenticeship. However, we target our Degree Apprenticeship at those with an existing Level 3 qualification and demonstrable experience of Software Engineering:

  • Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship in Software Engineering;  or
  • 3 A-Levels (including Computer Science) or BTEC and 1-years industry experience in software engineering.

The future

Our Degree Apprenticeship is an investment in your future. It's a stepping stone in your career in Software Engineering that is recognised by industry employers.

The next step in our technical career path is a Level 7 (Masters) Apprenticeship, which we are due to launch in September 2019, which could see you deepen your technical skills yet further, gaining a MSc Digital & Technology Solutions from the Open University. All while continuing in a full time job at Carbon Six Digital.
