OUR TEAM
Our multidisciplinary team in the UK and US includes Umbraco Certified Masters and Professionals, alongside experts in marketing, brand development, consumer behaviour, innovation, growth and commercial strategy. Working in cross-functional agile teams enables us to react quickly to deliver high quality, well architected projects.
Our leadership team are established Project Managers with experience of delivering Web and Mobile Apps and CMS based websites over 20 years. They hold British Computer Society Certificates in Agile Project Management Methods, and have a wealth of experience in a wide variety of project and programme management methodologies including SCRUM, DSDM, PRINCE2 and MSP.
Our rigorous approach to process and continuous improvement has ensured that our methodology is understood and delivered consistently so that those we work with are kept up to date every step of the way, and are encouraged to take an active part in the development of their solution.
Paul Marden
Managing Director
Paul is the Founder and Managing Director of Carbon Six Digital. He's an Umbraco MVP, and an Umbraco Certified Master who likes to think outside the box, often coming up with creative technical solutions that clients didn’t know were possible. Paul oversees business development and technical delivery, specialising in Microsoft technologies including Umbraco CMS, ASP.NET, C#, WebApi, and SQL Server. He's worked in the industry since 1999 and has vast experience of managing and delivering the technical architecture for both agencies and client-side projects of all shapes and sizes. Paul is an advocate for solid project delivery and has a BCS Foundation Certificate in Agile.
Joanne Marden
Finance & Business Administration Manager
Jo works in all aspects of the management and organisation of the business including long-term business and financial planning, resource planning, recruitment, and monthly analytics and reporting. She's responsible for marketing as well as account management of our public sector tendering, as well as being Programme Manager for Sustainability.
Jo has a PhD in Organisational Psychology, and a background in research, advocacy, marketing and communications in the Charity sector.
Alex Meyers
Engineering Manager
Al is responsible for producing technical design, outlining development tasks required to meet project scope, solution build, test planning and creation. Alongside providing development and consultancy he's also responsible for our engineering processes and the quality of what we do.
Al is an Umbraco Certified Master, Microsoft Technical Associate, and ElasticSearch Certified Developer, and was our first graduate in BA(Hons) Business and Management Practise on our Degree Apprenticeship Programme.
Alex Wilks
Senior Umbraco Developer
Alex is a full stack developer, specialising in C#, TypeScript and React, with over 13 years of industry experience across agencies, international consultancy firms and product companies.
Alex is a leading member of the development team, and works on many of our large and complex projects, as well as providing support for existing clients.
David Champion
UI/UX Designer
As UI/UX Designer, David is responsible for applying interactive and visual design principles on websites and web applications that continuously improve clients’ customer experience with best of breed marketing tools such as Umbraco and Hubspot.
David has over 15 years experience in UI/UX web design, having worked on both freelance projects and more in digital agency settings, and has an extensive background in designing for global companies in the travel and tourism industry.

Jon brings a wide array of skills gathered in an almost decade long career as a Web Developer, skilled in Umbraco, HTML5, CSS & JS, ASP, NET C#, Vue.js, JQuery & AJA, SQL and SSMS.
As a leading member of the development team, Jon delivers high quality back-end development to meet a varied range of client needs, bringing a pro-active and solution-based approach to projects and problem solving, client management and third-party systems integrations.
Tom Freeman
Apprentice Web Developer
Tom joined Carbon Six on our Apprenticeship Programme in 2023 and is working towards his Level 6 degree in Software Development. He has a diverse background in project development and is a full-stack developer who advocates for agile methodologies, transparency and collaboration among customers, product managers, software developers, and stakeholders.
Tom is responsible for a range of technical delivery tasks including support, functional and non-functional testing as well as technical support for our clients.
Vanitha Mani Selvakumar
Digital Project Manager
As Project Manager, Vanitha is the hub of our delivery function, accountable for ensuring that projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to the highest quality. She's a Certified Scrum Master with a wealth of hands-on experience in Agile methodologies having worked in both corporate and agency settings.
Working across the Carbon Six portfolio, Vanitha is responsible across the lifecycle of our projects from initial scoping through to implementation, with a focus on resource management and process improvement.

Having worked previously as a Marketing Manager as well as running his own agency Oz has extensive sector knowledge and a background in developing multi-channel marketing programmes focusing on growing audiences and the uptake of products and services.
Matt Laakvand
Creative Director
Matt works with us on a part-time basis having joined from a long stint in an agency setting. As Creative Director Matt works with clients and the team to ensure our solutions are best in class, cohesive and meet the brief.
He's responsible for guiding and overseeing the creative direction of digital projects, ensuring they align with the brand's vision and objectives in the online space.
Matt brings diverse experience in the tech space through roles including Graphic Designer and Illustrator, Lead front-end developer and Digital Project Manager.
Ben Auld
Senior PHP Developer
Ben is a full-stack developer, able to code from the ground up, and loves the challenge of creating new systems from scratch. Clean front-end, tidy back-end and beautifully regimented code – best practice is Ben's middle name.
A self-taught digital mastermind, this WordPress Wizard is heavily involved in project work and development.
Ben's limitless knowledge includes bespoke PHP, Laravel, CakePHP, Wordpress, WooCommerce and more. This guy is a true full-stack developer and all-round good guy.
